Sound Art

Christina Sound Art.jpg

I weave acoustematic and soundscape art to tell difficult histories surrounding coercive psychiatrization and electroconvulsive (ECT). Ultimately, I aim to promote ethical forms of “listening otherwise” outside of the conquest to take or to know with certainty.

In Sounding Madness, I score Janet Frame’s Faces in the Water to weave her voice within a larger historical sonic context, dating back to Victorian medical electricity, the sonic panopticons of asylums, the psychiatric survivor movement and the sounds of contemporary Mad activism resisting coercive psychiatrization.
